Ft. Lauderdale Florida Terrazzo

today's post we'll take a look at some featured terrazzo installations in Ft. Lauderdale. I'll also discuss pricing as well as the typical terrazzo contractors that are installing in this area.

Like Miami, I attribute much of this to the many homes that were build in the late 50's and early 60's that had terrazzo floor throughout. This is unique to to Florida. Homeowners loved the seamless flooring that stayed cool in the summer and was easy to maintain. In Florida people are simply more aware of terrazzo as a flooring finish and thus you see it more often. South Florida is home to some of the most extravagant terrazzo floors in the country. Terrazzo installations range from high end residential to all realms of commercial construction projects.

Of course this can vary based on the scope of the terrazzo installation, particularly size of the job and intricacy of the floor pattern. Port Everglades Cruise Terminal 1

A beautiful art in public places terrazzo project designed by Doner Studio and installed by Creative Terrazzo.

Apple Store Aventura Mall

This flagship store just recently opened in 2020. This store features a multi-pourpose monumental stair and seating area from precast terrazzo.

Fort Lauderdale International Airport

Recently underwent major renovations and terminal expansions. Terminal 1 featured below was installed by David Allen Company and includes around 150,000 sf of epoxy terrazzo.

Broward County Courthouse

Designed by AECOM and installed by Creative Terrazzo Systems. The project features 80,000sf of 3 color rectilinear pattern that was installed 22 floors.

Broward County Convention Center and Hotel

Now under construction the new Convention Center and Hotel will feature epoxy terrazzo installed by Creative Terrazzo Systems.

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital

The new four-story Children’s Hospital, located in Hollywood, Florida, showcases an overall theme of “Power of Play” with each floor presenting themes of Sports, Arts, Games, and Dreams. This LEED Gold facility features 7,000 sf of epoxy terrazzo that has 70% post consumer recycled glass aggregate. Installed by Artistic Surfaces.
